Hi, my name is Daniel Armistead, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri. I know that finding a counselor, let alone one that you work well with, can be a difficult task. Whether you seek counseling with me or another provider, I hope you achieve the wellness and happiness that you deserve.
A little about me:
Human behavior and people have intrigued me from a very young age. I like to understand how things work and what motivates people. I want to connect with people on a deeper and more personal level. I am idealistic and like to inspire others and be inspired. Counseling is not just a job for me, it is a passion.
I have spent the past 10 years dedicated to helping others and have worked in various roles and settings including inpatient psychiatric care, crisis management, foster and adoptive care, and school-based counseling. I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and families. As a counselor, I have extensive experience working with those who have ADHD, ASD, school avoidance, attachment issues, chronic health conditions, complex physical, sexual, and emotional trauma, relationship issues, depression, and anxiety.
Additionally, I have a special interest in psychedelic-assisted therapy and helping others integrate their experiences with these substances.
What to expect?
As a counselor, my approach is humanistic in nature. I aim to create an environment where you will feel safe to explore whatever is bringing you to counseling. I will strive to understand you, support you, challenge you and share tools that will assist you in your growth. I will work with you to identify your goal(s) and collaborate with you on making a plan to reach them.
I enjoy being active in session – sometimes this means walking, yoga, drawing, games, or other similar activities that you may enjoy or benefit from. I will check in with you often to see what is working and what is not. If additional support or treatment is needed, I will work with you to explore your options.
Taking the step to reach out for help can be scary. I am here for you when you are ready.
If I am not in-network with your insurance plan, out of network benefits can be explored and utilized if available. If you do not have insurance, or do not wish to utilize your insurance benefits for therapy, my self pay rate is $140. I do offer a sliding scale.
