My name is Lindsay Proffer I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Illinois.

I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and families, and helping clients gain insight into their lives and gain the skills to become their best selves.

Since beginning my career in counseling, I have worked with clients of a variety of ages in a community mental health setting.  Through this experience I have gained a lot of great knowledge and experience in individual and group counseling, and crisis intervention. I have experience working with those who struggle with substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, adjustment struggles, relationship challenges, communication, and trauma.  I also have experience working with adolescents in both school, group, and individual settings, and always enjoy working with this population.

My approach to therapy is person-centered, and includes considering individual client factors and preferences when addressing clients’ needs. I recognize that each client and their needs are unique, and I strive to help my clients identify and address their goals in a safe and supportive environment. I use a variety of therapy methods, including but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

Mental strength is not the ability to stay out of the darkness; it’s the ability to sit present in the darkness knowing that the light will shine again.
