My name is Stephanie McManus and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri. I have had the pleasure of gaining experience in several different environments with a variety of ages and identities during my time in the field. Recently, I worked for a local non-profit where I provided one-on-one counseling and crisis support/intervention for middle schoolers in North County experiencing a variety of stressors including grief, trauma, bullying, and behavioral issues. Before this position, I was a crisis intervention clinician answering phone calls for the local St. Louis crisis line, National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and several other mental health hotlines/crisis lines for the state of Missouri. While working in crisis work, I also provided one-on-one counseling in a private practice setting to graduate students and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, eating disorders/body image issues, trauma and other stressors. The majority of my experience has been with young adults, 18 and up.

One of my biggest philosophies as a counselor is the critical importance of the counselor and client relationship. I enjoy building rapport with every client I work with, making sure I take the time to understand their needs and what they would like to focus on. I believe this is an absolutely necessary step for therapy to be a success. With a person-centered approach, I also enjoy using techniques from modalities such as Internal Family Systems, Health at Every Size and Body Neutrality, ACT, CBT, and Solution Focused Psychotherapy. I am also trained in EMDR. With this blended approach, I hope I can be a safe, welcoming space of support and compassion for anyone to help guide them to whoever they want to be.
