My name is Jody Lurk and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Illinois.
Since beginning my career, I have worked in a wide variety of settings including residential care, outpatient substance abuse counseling, crisis counseling for children and adults, community mental health, and most recently, private practice. Although I have experience with and treat all ages, I have a special interest in working with children and adolescents who experience depression, anxiety, attention, learning issues, behavioral problems, anger management, trauma, and stress. I enjoy working with families of all types to develop positive behavior modification techniques as well as healthy communication patterns. I have experience working with adults in a variety of setting with many presenting issues. I currently focus on helping adults who have depression, anxiety, or trauma.
There are many types of therapy and I tend to use a wide ranged approach which takes into consideration where a person has been in their life and the many factors that are contributing to where they are right now. Some of the treatment approaches I use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and Trauma Focused Therapy.
